Nicoloa Salmoria started developing a software that would allow his PC to play one single classic arcade game in 1996. He used to play arcade classics which influenced his decision to release MAME, making path to a new method of playing classic games. In addition, the movement for the MAME Open Source Development comprises of more than hundreds of independent programmers across the world, working together to boost the library of more than 3 thousand supported games. MAME gives players a chance to enjoy some long-forgotten arcade games; however, the program was aimed at showcasing arcade games history in a positive light. Majority of the first set of arcade games are nowhere to be found and have not been introduced in new game systems. This is targeted at providing a source for the people who used to play these arcade games back in the 1970’s and 1980’s.

Pac-Man, Robotron, Street Fighter and Space Invaders in their original setting all have a simplicity that offers a lot more enjoyment than most of these new generation games. All of those and more can be found in our MAME ROMs (Arcade Machine ROMs) section.

Enjoy your favourite MAME games. We have put together a collection of 2257 MAME roms, which you can download for free. Using MAME emulator (download here) run your favourite games on your PC, Mac, iPhone or Android device. You can sort rom games by genre or region.
